When I was a child one of my favorite things to do in the spring was to hide in the vacant lot across from our house. In the spring the lot filled with mustard and I thought if I laid down in it no one could see me or know where I was. I would lay on my back and watch the clouds roll by, trying to figure out what they looked like, I always found something in a cloud; a book, a person, a tree, something. The wisteria was blooming from the house next door and I could smell it. It was a great way to spend an afternoon.
Jim and I were driving to Rancho Santa Fe to go to the farmstand and what should appear but a field full of mustard. The temptation was just too much. I made Dad stop so I could disappear for awhile. This mustard was like nothing I had ever seen before. It was 6ft. tall, and really thick. I don't remember all the stickers when I was little. but it was still fantastic. So........

Mom, you are wonderful! I am so glad that you have passed on that love of life to us kids, too. What a great reminder to never let it go.
Kinda like where's Waldo!
Beautiful field! I love that you made dad stop!
That's awesome! Good for you for stopping the car. Ya know, we all need to take time to let out the inner kid in us.
Fantastic! I love your childhood memories. Mine are more about dragging Vicki out on the rare times we had guests. Or all of my accidents and rushes to the emergency room.
Remember when we dressed Mike up like a girl and took the picture? And one of my real Favs... the "cookies" for the mean boys down the street ~ and running from their mother screaming "Look out, it's the witch!"
Please don't change. It's fun to have you for a sister!
What I want to know is why you're wearing a sweater in late April - isn't menopause supposed to take care of that???
We drove by some mustard fields on the way to church yesterday and I thought about you. I love the little things that remind us of past joys in our lives.
